Week One, Monday 17th July The Beginning of Rhetoric and Persuasion

Beginning my research and exploration of concept potential.

Since the first class of Design B, I have an understanding of what makes up the Ihi and the Wehi components of an art piece. The term rhetoric has also been cleared up a lot for me. We began with analysing some imagery through this Ihi Wehi principle. Since the class, I have found some other examples of impactful design/imagery and have analysed them through this same lens as well as commenting on their construction and the use of juxtaposition, pastiche, homage, parody, satire, or subversion. I have also been able to read through Max Rashbrooke's book, 'Inequality Debate: An Introduction', and have found some things which stood out to me and commented on them and where they prompt my exploration of inequality (see workbook). I also started a basic brain storm of areas in New Zealand where I might find inequality, just so that I can try to get as broad of a scope as possible before I start to really narrow in on a specific concept.
